About
Our League:
The Love Stinks Tennis League is a
recreational singles league for tennis players of various skill levels
in the York County Area (SouthCentral PA). The league season runs from
April through September and consists of a regular season and an
end-of-season tournament. One of the appeals of this low-cost league is
that players set their own match times and locations to suit their own
schedules. For more details about the league, including how to join,
please view the pages under the "League Info" section.
2009 League
Play Begins
The Web Page is now updated and ready to
report your scores. Remember, the deadline to have all 13 of your
matches played is August 3rd. If you do not have at least
11 of these matches played, you will not qualify for the
tournament. See the What's New
section below.
- Match Play Reminders:
- Both players are to bring a new can of balls
to the match. - Winner keeps the new balls.
- Decide before
you begin play whether you will play a full 3rd set or a superset in
the event that sets are split. If this is not discussed before,
then it is assumed that a full 3rd set will be played unless unexpected
conditions warrant otherwise and both players agree.
Lovestinks Logo Needed!
Lovestinks tennis league is looking for a logo to include on our web
page and on our T-shirt design. If anyone has any artistic
skills, please consider using your talents to help out the
league. Please submit any ideas to Dave Schrom or David Arrow.
Using the Web Page:
The
web site is up and running for the 2009 season. You should have
received an e-mail with instructions on
how to log in to this site. If you have not, please contact David Arrow. Be sure to keep
your profile updated with current availability notes and contact
information by clicking on the 'edit profile' button in the mymatches
section.
This web site is the main media that the league uses to publish
schedules and report scores. League Members can login as instructed by
your welcome e-mail, and then access the "MyMatches"
section which allows you
to report your match scores online, see what matches you are scheduled
to play, and view the contact information for your opponents. Phone
numbers are only accessible by league members logging in with a
password. If your internet access is limited, please inform Dave Schrom that you would
like to receive "hard copies" of the schedule.
NOTE:For a handy, personalized, printable
schedule; go to the mymatches section and click on the "printable view"
link
above the 'report score' buttons

What's New
- Everyone gets
a T-Shirt!
- The League Fee has remained $50 this
year. We will not be having a mid-season social, but do plan on
designing a League T-Shirt to give to all players. Please submit
any ideas for T-shirt design to David Arrow.
- Short Season,
LongTournament - Same schedule as last year.
- Last year, each division was reduced from 16
players down to 14 players. This means that each player will play
13 regular season matches instead of 15.
- The end-of the-year tournament will once
again be a
round-robin tournament instead of a single elinination
tournament. This means that every player is guaranteed a large
number of post-season matches instead of being done once you
lose. Therefore, even though the regular season matches have been
cut down, more players will play more matches overall compared
to previous years.
- Match
Completion Policy
- The purpose of the LoveStinks Tennis League
is to provide tennis players of all levels opportunities to play many
competitive matches in a recreational setting. Players join the
League because they want to play tennis, and it is very frustrating
when 'deadbeat' players make it difficult to schedule matches. A
policy has been implemented that any player not completing at least 70%
of their matches in a season will be allowed to return the following
season on probationary conditions. If a player fails to complete
70% of their matches for two consecutive seasons, that player will not
be permitted to join the league for any following seasons..
Court
Availability
- Penn State's courts are being used on Monday
& Wednesday evenings. So be advised to not schedule your matches
there on those days. Suburban's courts are a good alternative. They are
only about a mile away from Penn State. But they do not have lights.
- Please report other notes concerning court
availability to David Arrow
