     Love Stinks Tennis League

   Welcome
About Our League:
The Love Stinks Tennis League is a recreational singles league for tennis players of various skill levels in the York County Area (SouthCentral PA). The league season runs from April through October and consists of  2 sessions running for about 3 months each.  One of the appeals of this low-cost league is that players set their own match times and locations to suit their own schedules. For more details about the league, including how to join, please view the pages under the "League Info" section.

 What's New ?

  • Cast Your Vote for the 2011 Season Players' Gift
    • Please take a minute and take our survey to cast your vote for the LoveStinks Players' Gift this year.  All participants in the league will receive this gift, so give us your input! -- It doesn't always have to be a shirt!
  • Major Changes for 2011 Season!
    • For 2011, the format of LoveStinks is changing from a 1 session and 1 tournament season to a season consisting of 2 sessions. Each session will be run like a separate season, so you may choose to play in either of the sessions or both.

Dates of Play   Registration
  Deadline
  Cost
Session 1 April 16th - July 16th March 31 $45
Session 2 August 1st - October 30th July 16 $45
Special Discount:  Play Both Sessions $73
    • Players will be divided into similar-ability divisions consisting of 10 players each, meaning that all players will play 9 matches each session.  With smaller divisions and this new schedule, a player playing both sessions will play more matches than previous years (18 matches instead of the 11 + additional tournament matches played last year). Also, with only 10 players in each division, players have a better chance of winning one of the prizes for 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place.
  • LoveStinks Social July 23rd
    • As part of the 2011 season changes, we will be having a mid-season social  instead of an end-of-the-year social.  All players playing in either session are invited to attend.  The format will be the same as in previous years:  We will be play pick-up doubles matches, have a picnic, and hand out trophies and prizes.
  • Match Completion Policy
    • The purpose of the LoveStinks Tennis League is to provide tennis players of all levels opportunities to play many competitive matches in a recreational setting.  Players join the League because they want to play tennis, and it is very frustrating when 'deadbeat' players make it difficult to schedule matches.  A policy has been implemented that any player not completing at least 70% of their matches in a season will be allowed to return the following season on probationary conditions.  If a player fails to complete 70% of their matches for two consecutive seasons, that player will not be permitted to join the league for any following seasons.
Web Page Access
  • The Web Page is under construction for 2011. You will not be able to log in to see your schedule report your scores until the new scedule is finalized. You will receive an e-mail with instructions on how to log in to this site by the end of April. If you do not, please contact David Arrow. Be sure to keep your profile updated with current availability notes and contact information by clicking on the 'edit profile' button in the MyMatches section.
  • This web site is the main media that the league uses to publish schedules and report scores. League Members can login as instructed by your welcome e-mail, and then access the "MyMatches" section which allows you to report your match scores online, see what matches you are scheduled to play, and view the contact information for your opponents. Phone numbers are only accessible by league members logging in with a password. If your internet access is limited, please inform Dave Schrom that you would like to receive "hard copies" of the schedule.
  • NOTE: For a handy, personalized, printable schedule; go to the mymatches section and click on the "printable view" link above the 'report score' button.

Match Play Reminders:

  • Both players are to bring a new can of balls to the match. - Winner keeps the new balls.
  • Decide before you begin play whether you will play a full 3rd set or a superset in the event that sets are split.  If this is not discussed before, then it is assumed that a full 3rd set will be played unless unexpected conditions warrant otherwise and both players agree.

Court Availability

  • Penn State's courts are being used on Monday & Wednesday evenings. So be advised to not schedule your matches there on those days. Suburban's courts are a good alternative. They are only about a mile away from Penn State. But they do not have lights.
  • Please report other notes concerning court availability to David Arrow
